Jamaican Turquoise Anole

One of many turquoise coloured lizards found globally but yours truly is the only native turquoise lizard found in Jamaica. The Jamaican turquoise lizard is scientifically titled Anolis Grahami in honour of James Doncan Graham an American topographical engineer.

There standout turqouise colour dominates the upper portion of the lizard whereas the tail and hind legs are more dominated by a blend of blue and yellow.

These lizards, not unlike other anoles display their dewlap and rock up and down to intimidate and assert dominance.

Alternatively, they sometimes seek to have the opposite effect and get flat which has the effect of making them more inconspicuous.

They also can change their colour to a much darker tone in the face of danger, real or perceived.
